If you believe everything you hear in the news, then internet groups and forums are filled with uber-nerds debating the minutiae of the latest gadgets, or single people arranging blind dates with God-knows who!
No doubt that these stereotypes start with a figment of truth, but the majority of people using sites like Twitter and Facebook are genuinely benefiting from these relationships. We’ve recently met some of the real people behind the virtual identities on Twitter at a gathering of local Twitterers – commonly known as Twuttles, or Twuddles. We haven’t quite got past the Matrix-style identity confusion yet – “do I call you Neo or Mr Anderson?” – but we can say a lovelier bunch of people you are unlikely to meet!
