We are a fun loving, kinda soppy couple, whose individualities pretty much always complement each other’s in life, work & photography. When we got our first place together, we were given a ‘moving home’ card with a cartoon depiction of two peas in a pod… and that’s exactly what we are! We still wait for a little whoop! when we refer to each other as husband and wife!

We love to get to know our couples, in fact making new friends is the biggest perk of our job! We also like to keep up to date with your wedding plans and ideas and the clever people at FacebookTwitterPinterestInstagram and Spotify help us to do just that! Look us up!

You’ll notice on our blog that we like to ask our couples to describe each other in 3 words, so we thought it’s only fair that we do the same!…

About Martin, Penny said: clever, selfless, gorgeous

Continued… Listens hard. Laughs loud. Partial to unnecessarily gangling words. Can do anything he puts his mind to, but doesn’t believe it’s true. Guitar wizz. Chef extraordinaire. Notices when I change my hair. Funny… in a ha-ha way as well as a kooky way. Sensitive. Prone to bouncing off the walls from time to time. Family man.

About Penny, Martin said: cute, creative, ambitious

Continued… Beautiful singing voice – would have made an amazing Epinine in Les Mis. Brings a tear to my eye with her Love Actually-style rendition of Catch a Falling Star.  Amazing with kids – never met anyone quite like it. Bursting with creative ideas.  Could win medals for sleep ability. And cuddling! Oh yeah, likes chocolate a little bit…I mean, if I was made of chocolate….

Photo taken by extended arm moments after he said yes!

In July 2011, Penny sprang a surprise on Martin’s birthday, in asking him to marry her, just beating him to the punch (he’d planned the same thing for her birthday a month later)!

In April 2012 we were married in a way so perfect and true to us- by the side of a remote Scottish loch,  just us, our Humanist celebrant, the estate gardener and the local chef! We even took our own wedding photos, and a video to play at our exceptionally quirky Brighton wedding reception a couple of weeks later (see below)! It was so wonderful watching the reactions of our family and friends- laughter and tears, all of which we would have missed had we been at the front worrying about getting our lines right! It was really important to us for our wedding to be memorable… ‘memorably quirky’ was the phrase we had in mind! We wanted every last detail captured on camera as we spent a lot, I mean A LOT of time crafting them! For us, the planning part of the wedding, the DIY, the collecting, the crafting, the imagining, the designing was just as meaningful and enjoyable as the wedding itself. Read more, see more here.
